The Old Administration Building, built in 1892, was the center of the University of Idaho campus during its first years of operation. The building was three stories of red brick exterior and and an interior of California Redwood and native Tamarack. It cost $131,068 to build.

In 1896 the first four graduates of the University of Idaho received their degrees in its auditorium, but sadly the building would not last long.

In the very early hours of March 30, 1906, the Old Administration Building was engulfed in flames. By morning, the heart of campus was nothing more than blackened skeletal walls and wet rubble. The first part of the New Administration Building was completed in 1909.
