New Mechanafe

Opening in 1929, the Mecanafe was a popular and futuristic automated restaurant in Downtown Boise. Although it closed in the 1940s, the Mechanafe lingers on in the hearts and stomachs of anyone old enough to remember it. As one former customer described it, “it was unique and special. All you had to do was open a glass door and pick out whatever you wanted to eat. It brought excitement and joy. And the food was good, too.” (source: deseretnews.com) - Annie
